COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma Donor Request Form
South Bend Medical Foundation is seeking people who are fully recovered from COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and would like to donate plasma to help current patients with serious, life-threatening COVID-19 infections.
As a result of your infection, your plasma now contains COVID-19 antibodies, which is one way your immune system fought the virus when you were sick. Your plasma is now known as "convalescent plasma" and can be transfused to a currently sick patient as part of treatment.
Early research into the use of convalescent plasma for COVID-19 suggests that it may be a safe and effective therapy that reduces the length and severity of COVID-19. The FDA is permitting the use of convalescent plasma as an investigational treatment for patients with moderate or severe COVID-19 infection. It is considered an investigational treatment because clinical studies have started but have not yet been completed
If you had a positive laboratory test for COVID-19 and want to donate convalescent plasma, you must be symptom-free for 14 days prior to donating and meet the standard donation requirements.
If you are interested in donating your plasma to help another patient, a South Bend Medical Foundation
representative is available Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm EST. Please call 574-204-4243
and the representative will review your eligibility and discuss the process with you.
