Toxicology

Toxicology

Established as its own department at South Bend Medical Foundation in 1975, Toxicology offers forensic options and employee drug screens. With accreditations from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the National Laboratory Certification Program (NLCP), the American Association of Clinical Chemistry, College of American Pathologists Forensic Urine Drug Testing Program (AACC - CAP FUDT), South Bend Medical Foundation was also one of the original ten accredited by the Substance Abuse and Mental Healthy Service Administration (SAMHSA) formerly NIDA. South Bend Medical Foundation is also able to do testing for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, which is only able to contract with SAMHSA certified laboratories.

Providing quality testing is a key priority for the Foundation's Toxicology Department led by Dr. Prentiss Jones. Samples with a negative reading are usually processed within 24 hours, while positive samples have a turn-around-time of approximately 48-72 hours. There are several reporting options for these tests to ensure that our clients are receiving the results in the most convenient, confidential way possible. By using South Bend Medical Foundation's SB ONLINE, results can be accessed through our secure website for DOT and NON DOT results. Other options include faxing results to secure fax sites or using remote printers supplied by South Bend Medical Foundation.
