At the South Bend Medical Foundation, we know that maintaining specimen integrity is vital in providing a quality laboratory result. Our transportation staff is trained in the proper handling of specimens and maintaining specimen integrity. All couriers are kept up to date on changes in the handling of biohazardous and forensic specimens. Your courier will arrive in a uniform identifying them as a South Bend Medical Foundation employee. Samples ready for pick up will be individually cross-referenced with your laboratory's specimen manifest or log. This documentation will remain with the samples and is verified again when they are received at the SBMF Central Lab. Samples are placed in one of three temperature controlled: refrigerated, frozen or room temperature, and are transported from your facility to the Central Laboratory the same day of receipt, all via reliable SBMF ground transportation.
Our couriers log approximately 2,000,000 miles each year with services provided to our clients Monday through Saturday.
