  • Clinical Significance:
    Somatostatin is a 14-amino acid peptide found in the hypothalamus, pancreas, gastric mucose, and intestine. It is a potent inhibitor of pituitary, pancreatic, and GI hormones but posses other non-endocrine functions as well. Somatostatin is rapidly degraded in blood.
