Immediately transfer serum to separate plastic tube
Properly centrifuged gel barrier tube sample does not require transfer of serum to separate tube - Spec Store Transport:
Refrigerated - Spec Stability:
8 days refrigerated (2-8°C) - Methodology:
Nephelometry - Use:
To provide serologic evidence of previous group A streptococcal infection
DNase-B and ASO antibody tests are generally ordered concurrently - Clinical Significance:
Immunochemical assay of specific antibodies to streptococcal metabolites provides valuable information regarding past streptococcal infection (rheumatic fever, scarlet fever, tonsillitis, glomerulonephritis, etc.). Among the assays for antibodies to various streptococcal exoenzymes, the antistreptolysin O assay should be given prominence as a sensitive parameter since it has been found to be elevated in about 80 to 85% of the cases. - Reference Range:
0-408 IU/mL - Day Run:
Mon, Wed, Fri - Time Run:
Multiple runs - Time Reported:
5:00 pm - Test Type:
