    Urinalysis Specimen:
       – If a portion of urine has been transferred to a urine C&S transport tube for possible culture (see below), the urine for routine urinalysis can be maintained room temperature for up to 2 hours
       – If a portion of urine has not been transferred to a urine C&S transport tube, the urine for routine urinalysis and possible culture must be refrigerated within 20 minutes of collection
       – Urinalysis only specimens can remain refrigerated for up to 12 hours
    Urine Culture Specimen, High Volume (3.0-5.0 mL):
       – Immediately after collection, transfer well-mixed urine from bottom of sterile container into gray-top urine transport tube (with preservative)
       – Shake tube vigorously
       – Urine culture specimens transferred to urine transport tube can remain room temperature for up to 24 hours
       – Specimens in “Urine C&S Transport Kit” can also be refrigerated
       – Urine culture specimens can be refrigerated for up to 12 hours
