    Female Endocervical Swab Specimens:
         – Remove excess mucus from endocervix using large–tip cleaning swab from "Unisex Swab Specimen Collection Kit"
    Male Urethral Swab Specimens:
         – Instruct patient not to urinate for at least 1 hour before time of specimen collection
  • Spec Collect:

    Female Endocervical Swab Specimens:
         – Remove excess mucus from endocervix using large–tip "cleaning swab" from "Unisex Swab Specimen Collection Kit"
         – Discard "cleaning swab" after use – do not use for specimen collection
         – Remove blue–shaft, small–tip "collection swab" from collection kit and insert swab into endocervical canal
         – Gently rotate swab for 10 to 30 seconds in endocervical canal to ensure adequate sampling
         – Do not touch vaginal wall with swab during collection or removal process
         – Carefully remove swab and place into white–label "Swab Specimen Transport Tube" from collection kit
         – Break swab shaft at scoreline – do not splash tube contents
         – Tightly recap transport tube taking care not to disrupt foil portion of cap
         – Label tube with patient identification and collection date
    Male Urethral Swab Specimens:
         – Instruct patient not to urinate for at least 1 hour before time of specimen collection
         – Remove blue–shaft, small–tip "collection swab" contained in "Unisex Swab Specimen Collection Kit"
         – Insert small–tip swab 2 to 4 cm into urethra
         – Gently rotate swab for 2 to 3 seconds to ensure adequate sampling
         – Carefully remove swab and place into white–label "Swab Specimen Transport Tube" from collection kit
         – Break swab shaft at scoreline – do not splash tube contents
         – Tightly recap transport tube taking care not to disrupt foil portion of cap
         – Label tube with patient identification and collection date
